A mountain bike team focused on youth development through organized mountain bike riding and racing.
Weekly "on the bike" practices and opportunities to ride local single-track trails
5 cross-country style mountain bike races around MN & western WI. Note: racing is not required but we would like to see each rider to try at least one race.

Boys and Girls in Grades 6-12 living/attending school in the Mahtomedi School District or resides in the Mahtomedi School District
You can earn a High School Letter in Mountain Biking.

Practices are generally held at area parks/trails/roads, including Sunfish Lake Park in Lake Elmo, Battle Creek in Maplewood, and Whitetail Ridge in River Falls, WI mountain bike trails.

Returning Riders - Opens April 1st
**** New Riders - Email a coach (See contact below) as soon as possible once you've decided to join the team. Must register by July 1st. There are no tryouts, but team size may be limited based on coaching capacity. TEAM STORE (for ordering team jerseys, shorts, etc.) June- July TBD
(JULY) REGULAR PRACTICES 2 days per week
Start July 19th (generally Tuesday, Thursday evenings. Occasional optional Sunday afternoons)
Note: Additional information regarding practice schedule and structure will be sent out via SportsEngine
(SEPT-OCT) RACES- subject to change. This season is currently set to be side by side racing .
Traditional side by side racing: 2-Day Race weekends (Saturdays- 6th – 8th grade) (Sundays- 9th-12th grade)

Don't let the costs prevent you from participating. Scholarships and loaner bikes are available.
Contact a coach and let us help find a way to get you/your kids on bikes that fits your situation. This will be another challenging year to find equipment for everyone so start early!
MANDATORY:
• Mountain bike- Good quality- no department store bicycles
• Knobby tires, ≥ 1.75" wide
• Multiple gears
• Front & rear brakes (either rim or disc)
• Helmet (must fit properly) On a bike at a team/league event? YOU MUST HAVE A HELMET ON!
• TEAM JERSEY
• Closed toed shoes
• Water carrier (bottle/cage or hydration backpack)
• Tube/Flat tire repair kit
OPTIONAL/ENCOURAGED
• Gloves
• Protective glasses (safety glasses are an inexpensive option)

Like other large organized sports, we depend on each other to make it all work. As you consider joining the team, we want you to be aware of some important expectations:
Team MEMBER Expectations
• Participate in at least one race
• Participate and attend practice. It is challenging to progress if don’t show up.
• Volunteer for trail work days. Minimum 1 time per season: opportunities TBA
Team PARENT Expectations
If you have a mountain bike and ride regardless of your experience please consider coaching. If we want to include all kids that want join the team with different abilities it takes a minimum of 6 coaches to safely run a practice.
Volunteer with the League at a race- it takes at least 75 volunteers to make a race happen!
